Hey everyone!
Today I wanted to share a few things with you! One of those things (of course) is a formal event that my school put on this past weekend, and the other is my recent experience with purchasing formal wear (for this event) online. Let's do this in reverse order so you all can get the full story...
I had been searching for a dress for the event for about a month and had no luck in finding what I wanted within my price range. A few dresses had caught my eye, but I didn't really see anything that I REALLY liked. However, one day I came across a website that changed everything!
The dresses on this site were cheap and gorgeous, so you know I was excited - yet skeptical. Before getting carried away I decided to look for reviews online to see if the site was legitimate or not. I came across one forum where the lady posting said that she was also skeptical but she placed an order anyway and had received her confirmation number. I found no other information on the site to make me not want to at least try to place an order so I did!
I ordered this wedding dress, but in a light yellow. The theme was "A Cinderella Story" so I wanted a big princess-y dress.
The price of the dress on the website was $104.
I was nervous, but I purchased it anyway.
People, let me say this. If it looks too good to be true... then it probably is.
Especially on the internet.
To make this long story short, it was not a good experience at all. I had to keep bothering these people all the way in China like crazy! Every time I went to talk to them on their online chat service, I had to change my name. If I put my name and email address, they would not reply. The 1st time I did it, I waited for 3 hours. After that point I used a different name and a fake email address and they replied within 2 minutes.
So yeah, I was worried that I wasn't going to get a dress at all but glad that it wasn't like a $500 dress! While I was on spring break, they sent me a tracking number and when I got back to school the package was waiting for me. It was a small package for the big dress that I had ordered and I was afraid to open it. This is what I got:

The dress was too small and poorly constructed :( detailed photos will be in the next post. |

The flowers that you see on the dress were applied with hot glue :\ |

What is it so flat?? :( |
Obviously, this was NOT the dress that I ordered and of course I was completely upset. However, I didn't allow this mishap to ruin everything. I was relieved that the company at least sent SOMETHING, so this meant that I had a dress to work with! That whole week I set to work with my sewing machine. Here's what it ended up looking like in the end:

I was happy with the outcome of my dress and it was a great night :) The event was lots of fun and everyone looked amazing!
Has anyone else experienced a similar situation with online shopping?
In the next post I'll show you exactly what I did to the dress!
But for now online shoppers, beware!
